Version 3.0, released in early May of 2018, is the first major upgrade of HYDRUS since 2011. In this version, we have included in the standard computational modules a new flexible Reservoir Boundary Condition (in 2D), expanded Root Growth features, included an inverse option for 3D, and added many new graphical capabilities of the GUI. Detailed description of new features and changes in Version 3.01 of HYDRUS (2D/3D) are given in Šimůnek et al. (2018). Version 3.2 includes new modules Furrow 3D that describes the coupled surface-subsurface flow and transport processes occurring during furrow irrigation and fertigation and Slope Cube 3D that additionally calculates transient fields of soil suction, suction stress, total and effective stresses, and local factor of safety.

Additional measures are taken to improve solution efficiency in transient problems, including automatic time step adjustment and ensuring that the Courant and Peclet numbers do not exceed preset levels. The water content term is evaluated using the mass-conservative method proposed by Celia et al. (1990).
